Engagement photos at Barnsley House – Anton & Katherine

I wasn’t at a wedding this weekend, instead Anton & Katherine had invited me to take some engagement photos at Barnsley House.  How could I possibly refuse?  It’s a popular boutique hotel that oozes Cotswold charm, has extensive gardens, chic interior design wrapped in and around it’s beautiful building.  In short, it makes the perfect setting for a photo shoot.  A little more sun wouldn’t have gone a miss, but you can’t have it all.

With a requirement to attend the local church 12 times before marrying in the village, they were going to be in the area somewhat often it would appear.  Summer however came and went, with me typically attending weddings most weekends and unable to catch up with them. We fixed up my first free October date therefore and had a great time enjoying the surroundings at this time of year. Barnsley house still had some vibrant colours on show and with the wonderful architecture around the gardens there’s no shortage of photogenic spots to use.

This shoot however was all about getting Anton & Katherine to feel a little more relaxed in front of the camera.  It’s true, not many people are used to having their photo taken, many feel nervous, or don’t know how to act.  After a tentative start though, these two started to relax, albeit Anton did ask “are we done yet” 30 mins in.  Engagement sessions are often around an hour, much longer that you’re likely to spend with me on your wedding day.  However, with some practice under your belt, the wedding day photo shoot will seem a breeze in comparison!

So check out a small collection from Anton & Katherine’s engagement photos at Barnsley House below.  They don’t look nervous anymore?

Anton & Katherine have a winter wedding planned for December this year at Barnsley House.  I hope this engagement session will compliment their wedding photos and give them the confidence to enjoy having their photo taken on the day.
