Ardington House wedding photography – Peter & Amanda

Sit back for a stunning collection of Ardington House wedding photography which I must admit has as much to do with my bride being gorgeous, the weather superb and Ardington House a fantastic wedding venue, as it was down to my skills behind the camera!  Sometimes it all falls into place, you have enough time to take some beautiful portraits, plus loads of action to document the wedding day and even capacity for a few groups shots.

Is this the Aussie way I’m beginning to wonder?  If so I’ll have more weddings like this please, laid back yet a whirlwind of activity.  Albiet Amanda certainly likes to mix in a few more group shots than I’m used to :-)  None the less, it was such a fun fast paced day, perfect weather and a great set of guests.  I’m sure the Aussie’s enjoyed the Oxfordshire countryside, just not so much the ribbing during speeches with regards their recent sporting achievements (or lack of!).  It was great that so many folk had made epic journeys across continents to make it to the wedding though and was definitely appreciated by Peter & Amanda, who themselves had made the journey from down under to get married in the Cotswolds.

Thankfully the day didn’t disappoint, the British weather was probably more reminiscent of back home in Oz and we enjoyed a fine summers day.  So, roll on a few photos……

Veils & great light go hand in hand every time.

With Amanda being ready in plenty of time (probably an hour early!) it gave me opportunity to take a few bridal portraits around Ardington House before heading off to the church.

One of a few group photos before we left for the wedding ceremony.  I love the light in this room combined with the dark wood panelling.

I’d not expected Amanda to be a timely bride, yet she was ready an hour early and subsequently made it to the church 10 mins before the wedding was due to start too.  This clearly caught a few guests out.  This guy (complete with suitcases!) even has the change in his hand from paying the cab driver too.

Yeah, veils and wind and a tricky combo.

At this point in the ceremony (the ring exchange) Peter and Amanda were stood up, as you’d expect.  It’s typically just after this point, or perhaps later after the prayers, the couple usually kiss……..

…however this moment came whilst kneeling for prayers.  Not your usual but made me smile.

I regularly hear the same wedding readings….but for this occasion Peter & Amanda’s guest chose Bruce Springsteen lyrics as the basis of his reading.  Very well done, and certainly a departure from the norm.

This vicar was great.  I’ve never known someone to have so many props on a wedding day and also entertain the kids during his sermon.

Arriving back at Ardington House promptly after the wedding ceremony meant we had a fair amount of time before the guests joined us so took the opportunity to get some couple portraits around the grounds.

Posing couples is a very serious job indeed.

Ardington House has wonderful places to use for wedding photography.  These steps at the front of the house work really well, as do the gardens at the rear, but I also favour using the rooms inside the house as you’ll see in a few of the other shots.

It’s a compulsion to tickle kids feet right?  Likewise I always find myself patting kids on the head as they pass by.

The Ozzy contingent :-)

Following the drinks reception, guests headed down to the marquee in Ardington House grounds, for wedding speeches and some Ozzy tucker!

It’s ever easy to mention people who aren’t able to be at your wedding day, Peter covered it very well…..bringing a tear to most peoples eye.

Amanda’s Uncle took to the floor for an impromptu speech, which certainly touched the guests and I’m sure was more than appreciated by Amanda.
