Photography course Cheltenham

Are you looking for a Photography course in Cheltenham?  Over the past few years I’ve helped numerous amateur photographers improve on their skills.  Whether you’re a complete beginner, an intermediate needing a push, or someone looking to take photography to the next level with some bespoke coaching, I’ll tailor a course to suit.  Running one to one courses mean you don’t waste time on aspects you already understand, instead focusing on what will benefit you most.  You’ll go away with a great deal of information to reflect on and an enthusiasm for putting the techniques learnt into practice.

During the photography course you’ll feel more confident wandering around with your camera and be able to see the light first with your eyes, then capture it in camera next.

Choosing a camera – DSLR, compact, mirrorless, or even an iPhone

Choosing a camera to suit your needs is often something keen amateurs need someone else to help them with.  Put simply, you don’t know what you don’t know, and that’s why I’m there to help.  Every camera has it’s limitations, and it’s this trap that many people who set out on a photographic journey fall into.  Shopping online or after a 30min chat in a camera shop may nudge you in the right direction, but it doesn’t often get to the root of your fuller needs or explain how future upgradability may soon be a necessity as your kit limits you.  If you come to me with a small compact camera, or even a comprehensive DSLR set-up, there are still ways to improve your photography, and also give you advice for what may be a suitable upgrade to your existing equipment without spending the earth. There are many good starting points on the internet to help out when consider choosing a DSLR, so why not have a quick read before a lesson in person to put your theory into practice.

Improve your landscape photography

So you’re out on a lovely walk, in the hills, through the woods or on the beach and you see the  photo you want.  But can you get it in your camera?  If you want to improve your landscape photography you first have to master all the basic skills of photography.  This is fundamental, and the starting point of my photography courses.  If you’ve got this part under your belt, then we’re ready to go out and about putting t into practice.  A walk in the park, or day trip can be arranged, whereby I’ll coach you showing what to look for, how to get the most out of your composition and considerations you can make at the capture stage that will assist in the post processing later too.

Producing great portrait photos

Not everyone wants to take landscape photos, I often have clients who wish to take better photos of their kids, whether that’s on holiday, around the home or on a day out.  The disciplines do vary somewhat, so it’s important for me to ensure you’ve got the skills to capture both. Even if you’re using an iPhone, you will get better results if you understand how to use the available light, and anticipate where to be, and what the subject is doing, before you press the shutter.

Focusing, composition and the technical aspects of photography

It’s not easy, there is no short cut, but if you have a good foundation to start from, getting consistent results in photography is very simple and can make what seems like a very complicated tool, something you actually understand.

So it’s less photos like this……..

….and more like this.
