Wedding photographer portfolio 2012

With an entire website dedicated to my photography (hardly surprising as I’m a wedding photographer), I ask myself this, “Is a wedding portfolio really necessary when you can view so many recent weddings on my blog?  I’m still not sure of the answer to this one, so in a slight change of format I’ve decided to use a review of each year to pick out some of my favourite wedding photos and create a portfolio.

You could of course browse through my blog, or search by your specific wedding venue / wedding theme (see wedding inspiration menu) but perhaps it’s simpler to come here for the highlights.  Yeah, for you maybe, but the enormity of the task to pick ‘just a few favourites’ then dawned on me.

This year I’ve photographed around 30 weddings throughout Gloucestershire and the surrounding Cotswolds, if I pick just a couple of favourite photos from each I’ll have a comprehensive portfolio right?  At least that’s what I thought.

Taking only my blog favourites from each wedding I accumulated around 1,600 photos to choose from.  That’s right, one-thousand-six-hundred…….and I’m looking for around 100 photos for a portfolio overview.  Arrrhhhhhgh!

Four hours, a double espresso and two chocolate cookies later and 1,600 is finally down to a more respectable 180……but have I included all the necessary photos?  Have I showed variety as a wedding photographer?  Wedding details, beautiful moments, relaxed couple portraits, group shots, the back of the dress, kids at weddings, wedding venues…..the list is endless.  So, taking all that on board I’ve done what every procrastinating photographer does, hoped for the best and decided to get on with it.

A wedding photographer portfolio from 2012 – sit back and enjoy!

A few photos have a link to the couples wedding blog post too, so if you fancy seeing a little more, click on it to be transported to another wedding world.

Eastnor castle wedding photos

Officially my wettest wedding of the year held at Eastnor Castle. Wedding photos here.

The most quintessentially Cotswold wedding of the year.

Barnsley House Weddings

One of my favourite Barnsley House weddings of the year.  A beautiful, relaxed, intimate wedding day in one of Gloucestershire finest wedding venues.

Taken by Gloucestershire wedding photographer Matt Davis at Stanton House

My most excitable couple of the year – James & Ellie.  You can see their full wedding blog post from Stanton House here.

Stanton House wedding photosArdington House Wedding Photos

A beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony (if not uncharacteristically cold for May) at the fabulous Ardington House.

Gloucestershire wedding photographer Matt Davis took this stunning bridal portrait of bride in Jenny Packham wedding dress

The most elegant mum of the year award goes to Heulwen….how beautiful?  Wearing a Jenny Packham wedding dress.

The most attentive bridesmaid award goes to Kiki’s assistants.

Most enthusiasts wedding guest….after ‘seeing’ the brides wedding dress.

Gloucester cathedral wedding photographer

The most inspiring wedding venue to photograph inside – Gloucester Cathedral.   Check out their full collection of Wedding photos Gloucester Cathedral here.

Cutest kid at a wedding

Proudest father of the bride – the first look is priceless.

My most ‘celeb’ wedding couple of the year.  Due to the fact they know half of Cheltenham it would appear…..and Gemma had two wedding dresses!

Kingscote Barn Gloucestershire, wedding photographer Matt Davis is recommended here.

The best day of the British summer ‘we didn’t have’.  With ripe corn and golden setting sun at Kingscote Barn.  For Kingscote Barn wedding photographs follow the link.

Berkeley Castle wedding photographer

Possibly one of my absolute favourite photographs of the year 2012.  Taken at Mike & Kiki’s wedding at Berkeley Castle.

Classic moment of the year, ‘you want to see, but you don’t want to be seen’.  The dilemma faced by many brides.

silhouette wedding photo

The best uniform to wear for a silhouette wedding photo.

Wedding photographer Gloucester cathedral

The Cloisters at Gloucester Cathedral.  A place with phenomenal light….basically a wedding photographers dream to photograph couple portraits.

Emotional wedding speeches at Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire

By far the most emotional wedding speech – ever.  It brought a tear to my eye.  Have a look at their entire wedding blog post from Berkeley Castle for the full story.

Vintage wedding at Friars Court

Best dressed groom of the year.  He does own a clothes shop so slightly unfair on the rest of us!  Check out Rob & Sians vintage wedding at Friars Court.

The most drunk wedding guests….and this is a flattering photo.

Sweetest moment ever when Hannah got a wedding morning gift from Jamie.

Gloucestershire wedding photographer

Best dressed bride……albeit Gemma did have two wedding dresses, works in a hair salon, loves make-up and wedding shoes!

The most beautiful wedding cake of 2012.

Smallest wedding car.

Gloucestershire wedding photographer at the Daffodil, Cheltenham.

Most unique wedding of the year. Gary & Gemma got married in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, then headed off to the Daffodil restaurant for a black tie, Hollywood themed wedding.

Most unique best mans props….and all genuine collections from the grooms hidden past.

Glorious golden light in Gloucestershire. Wedding photographer bliss

I hope you’ve enjoyed the selection of photos.  My main objective as your wedding photographer is to capture as many fleeting moments as possible and intersperse these with wedding details, creative couple portraits and of course the obligatory group shots.

If you’d like to chat with me about your wedding day, the please contact me through my website, or give me a call on 01242 230082.  I look forward to hearing from you.
